Occupational therapy deals with strengthening fine motor skills like writing, cutting, shoe-tying, and using utensils.  For children, whose "occupation" is school and play, it will focus on developmental milestones and skills required for playground and academic activities. For children, an occupational therapist may develop a game or activity that the child can complete daily.

This could be aimed at improving the child's:

At MEHATVA, special educators assess a child’s ability to function in relation to daily living activities. They then suggest some appropriate aids and appliances for the home environment for people with disability like two-handled cups, tap turners, grab rails and raised toilet seats in the rest room, bed raisers, etc.
Occupational therapy techniques and routines may seem like play, but they are designed to target the areas of delay and difficulty. It is offered to children from Early Intervention at MEHATVA.  The occupational therapy is a part of IEP(Individualized Education Programme) goals. The therapy is very helpful in addressing problems in the classroom, writing skills and keeps the child calm and focussed.
