About MEHATVA
- MEHATVA is a charitable non-profit organization run solely with a service motive to improve the lot of the unfortunate and the disabled children, in and around Kalpakkam.
- The School for Special Children MEHATVA was started in early 1994 when a child attending a regular school run by Women's Association for Children (WAC) kalpakkam was identified as "different".On Consultation with the doctors and the parents it was found that the child had DOWN'S SYNDROME.
- The President of the association (WAC) Mrs. Blossom Rodriguez took this problem to heart and tirelessly worked towards starting a school for the Intellectually Disabled children of Kalpakkam. The school after initial starting problems slowly got itself channelized and with the expert help of Dr. P. Jeyachandran and his team joined Madhuram Narayan Centre (Chennai). Special programmes were drawn up for each child.
- These programmes are being implemented by a team of dedicated Special Educators. Periodic Assessment and guidance is being carried out by Dr. P. Jeyachandran.
- It is now MEHATVA’s dream to see the present children benefit from the school and also to cater to anymore such SPECIAL CHILDREN.
